Marwan Iskandar is a Lebanese economist who studied at Oxford University and the American University of Beirut. Since well over thirty years, he has been chief economic commentator at An-Nahar, Lebanon’s leading newspaper. Between 1968 and 1974 he edited a weekly financial and economic review for An-Nahar. He has advised the ruler of Qatar (1978 to 1982) and the ministries of finance and information of three other Arab countries. Intermittently, he has advised three Lebanese prime ministers, and has published so far fourteen books on economics and politico-economic major events in the Middle East. From 1981 till 2005 he edited and published 25 yearly reviews of the Lebanese economy. During this period, he participated in two committees (1984 and 1992) that prepared macro-economic programs for improving the performance of the Lebanese economy.
